Types of Exercise

Personal Training

Personal Training is instructed in one-on-one or group sessions with a Certified Personal Trainer/Cancer Exercise Specialist. Our Personal Trainer specializes in designing safe and effective exercise programs for cancer patients, survivors, and the general population at any stage of their health and wellness journey.

Restorative Yoga

  • Restorative yoga is the re-integration training of the mind-body connection
  • It is a prop-heavy, breath-control-based yoga class
  • The slower pace and deep breathing trigger the parasympathetic nervous system
  • The overall calming effect on the nervous system sets a deeply relaxing tone for the class that comforts your mind and body down to the cellular level
  • Restorative yoga enables the integration of all the layers of life- environmental, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual

Gentle Flow Yoga

The focus for this kind of yoga combines a series of postures, where with a gentler, lighter-paced flow, students can move with a sense of ease from one posture to another, coordinated with the breath.

Gentle Flow Yoga can help:

  • Manage side effects: Yoga can help manage side effects of cancer treatment, such as pain, fatigue, insomnia, constipation, and stress.
  • Improve quality of life: It can help improve the quality of life for cancer patients by promoting relaxation and improving circulation.
  • Boost the immune system while building strength and flexibility
  • Help to combat stress/anxiety and improve your sleep
  • Reduce cognitive impairment and decrease psychological distress and musculoskeletal symptoms

  • Research has shown that yoga can reduce the side effects of cancer and its treatments and reduce the risk of recurrence.
  • Cancer survivors and patients need specific support from yoga professionals.
  • Classes incorporate physical postures, breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises such as meditation.

Chair Yoga

  • Chair yoga offers numerous benefits, especially for those with limited mobility or who prefer a seated practice
  • It can be beneficial for cancer patients as it offers gentle movement and relaxation without the strain of traditional yoga poses
  • It can help to improve flexibility and range of motion, strength building, reduce stress and enhance overall well-being
  • It can aid in developing better balance, reducing the risk of falls

Healthy Steps – Boosting Health and Happiness with Movement and Music

Healthy-Steps is a therapeutic exercise program set to music. Based on the Lebed Method, it’s designed to help patients thrive.  Healthy-Steps can help with:

  • Regaining range of motion and increasing mobility
  • Improving physical balance and stabilizing weight
  • Reducing swelling from lymphedema
  • Increased lymphatic drainage
  • Improving emotional well-being and promoting positive self-image
