Classes focus on the importance of movement to stimulate the immune system, improve flexibility and strength, reduce anxiety and boost well-being. Research has shown that yoga can reduce the side effects of cancer and its treatments and reduce the risk of recurrence. Cancer survivors and patients need specific support from yoga professionals. Classes incorporate physical postures, breathing techniques and mindfulness exercises such as meditation. All fitness levels are welcome.
$10 per class or buy a punch card for 6 classes for $50.00 or a monthly pass for $60, unlimited classes.
Meet our Instructors –
Cristy Anderson, RN, BSN: Cristy Anderson’s primary role in the clinic is working as a physician’s nurse with Dr. Haris Zahoor. Cristy received her nursing degree in 2002 and worked in women’s health initially. She found her passion with the oncology population and obtained her Oncology Nursing Certification in 2008. She took this inspiration and coupled it with the main goal in her life to “age gracefully” as motivation to complete her Yoga Certification through Yoga and Ayurveda Center. Cristy is excited to combine her nursing knowledge and continued passion for the oncology population to create a fun, relaxing, learning experience for her yoga students.
Shelly Olson was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. She has 10 years of experience working in an outpatient therapeutic setting. She obtained her Restorative Yoga Certification in October of 2016 at Bhadra Yoga in Omaha. Shelly is also certified in Oncology Yoga, a specialized yoga that provides education, support and advocacy so that cancer patients and survivors achieve the exercise guidelines safely and effectively. She is also a Certified Herbalist, graduating from North Star Herbal Studies in 2021. She has owned her own Herbal Practice called So Herbal where she uses herbal medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques to assist clients with a holistic approach. Her goal as a practitioner is to help people in getting their bodies back to balance.
