Dr. Stavas is a board-certified radiation oncologist and palliative care provider. Prior to joining Cancer Partners, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he directed the pediatric and palliative radiation service lines. He graduated from Creighton University and received his medical degree from Nebraska Medical Center where he graduated with Distinction. He went on to complete his internal medicine training at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and then his Radiation Oncology residency with a specific focus in palliative care at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Stavas is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology, Nebraska Medical Association and Lancaster County Medical Society. He is also a Principal Investigator with the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology and the ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group. He has published dozens of research articles, book chapters and abstracts in the field of radiation oncology, pediatric oncology and palliative care. He serves on the board of directors for Bryan Health Connect and Maple Street Construct, which is an art gallery and residency program in Nebraska. He also co-founded the Heart-to-Hold project and established a partnership with Build-A-Bear to comfort children undergoing radiation therapy. Dr. Stavas grew up in Lincoln and is married with three children.
